The majority if his lecture was about search egines and the direction it is going. He talked about the two leading search engines, Google and Yahoo. Google is the 400 pound gorilla of the search engines, and Yahoo is still widely recognized. He also made references to topics covered in our class also, like the way search results are put in order on the list when a person types in a keyword to search for. He explained how both Google and Yahoo give top position to the highest bidder, but unlike Yahoo, Google eventually moves a site up on the list the more clicks the site recieves. He also showed the class a couple of example of how a site is able to make money through search engines, and how search engines make money through the sites that are investing in their specific engine. He aslo emphasized on how important keywords are, and that the right keywords can make the search better for both the website and the user. Obviously the more relevant the keyword the better it is for that site. In this case, the more keywords the better. He also talked about other topics dealing with creating a webpage and what can make a site successful, and what makes it a failure. For the most part, the hour was spent well and the information he presented was very interesting and helpful.

The clickz.com article that i have chosen to summarize id the article titled, "Bid4Spots to Auction Radio Spots. The article states that the potential size of the independent Internet radio advertising market has been estimated at $500 million. The article is titled "Growing a Business Wbesite: Fix the Basics First. The article went through how to make a web page better through its design and content. The article states that the main factors that are hurting a business' website are: communicatig clearly, providing information the user really needs, and offering clear and easy web page design (clear navigation). Overall better content is a must. Plain spoken words and clean pictures is what the article says can help obtain this. The user's experience is also something a company should keep in mind when creatingf a website. I agree with this article for the most part, and that the information given by the author is very valid. I think that a web pages design and navigation is indeed important for the person viewing the website, and it important so that they remain on he site.

On the class meeting we had two guest speakers. They spoke to the class about marketing on the internet. One of the topics that I found interesting that thwey talked about was the product life cycle. They explained how the product is introduced to the market, product growth, maturity, and finally decline. We then talked about some products that resemble these stages of a product life cycle. Some of the product mentioned included: hybrid cars and ipods. Another topic that was discussed when they were presentig were the 4 P's: Product, Place, Price and Promotion. After, we discussed that there were three more Ps: People, Physica Evidence, and Process. The other topic that I found interesting is the components of direct marketing and finding your audience. To find your audience one must list: owners, managers, brokers, and the aspect of owning versus renting. Raltytrac.com was an online site that they used to give us an example of using the interent to get consumers to bring you business. This site has a 30 day trail which a person can use to get a feel for the website and its attrbutes and make a decsion if te are going to stay with the sight ad pay for its services. Overall, I thought it was and interesting class because i was a new way to see the physical ideas of marketing being used on the internet.

Assignment #2

1. The shoe that I chose is the DC shoecousa Pure SKU#7215638.

2. Looking at the reviews i saw that in the categories of: overall, comfort, and look, that this shoe recieved 5 stars in all the categories. Most of the people who posted had nothing but good things to say about the shoe. What is a good feature about the postings is that sopme of the users also put what other shoes they would recommend, which led me to look around at the shoes they posted.

3. Reading the reviews does not really effect my decision on whether or not I would buy the shoe, but at the same time it is useful information to know. It was nice to know what the other people's opinions were, but I still believe that no matter what anyone says im still going to buy the shoe i want to buy no matter what they say.

4. The only advantage that I can see with the reviews is that it an unbais opinion about the product by other consumers, rather than talking to a sales associate trying to sell you a product.

5. Like I said earlier, with reviews being posted up by normal people, the consumer can relate to other customers even if the review is negative. It also is a way to see what negative things they have to say about the product specifically.

6. I would recommend other people to view these sites, but at the same time, I personally feel that shoe shopping should be done in person because one shoe may not fit the same way to everyone. Also, just because it looks good on the internet does not mean it will look good on your foot.

7. In other products I do not really look at the recommendations at other sites. For the most part I still do more of my purchasing at the actuall store or vender. The only site that I do consider reviews and recommendations for is on ebay.

8. I believe that sites should offer a section for product reviews and it is a good way to show the consumers that they are confident about their product and that they are not afraid that they will have any bad reviews.

The assignment: My answers

3. Some reasons why blogs are a useful tool for the marketing aspect of the business world is because it is the best word of mouth form of advertising. The customers are able to voice their opinion about the product/service to the plublic, and in turn the plublic is able to reaspond to what they are saying. An example of this is ratemyprofessor.com. It is an open forum used by students to look up teachers that they can potentialy take in the college level. This website includes postings about the professor, and the opinions they give about the course and the way the instructor chooses to teach the class. It in some way is a blog for a service that a student wants to experience.

4. Blogs are a good advertising method, and in some way refrain from looking like mainstream advertising because it may turn people of to it. It is easier for people to read and take in opinions if they do not seem like they are being persuaded to buy something.

5. Blogs are not so much a fad, but more like a targeted advertising tool. It is too early to tell if it is a fad, because it is still to soon to label it as a fad or not. For the most part, it can become a good marketing tool, not to just the younger generation, but to everyone.

6. I think that the university in general could start a blog just as an overview to students interested in CSULB. With the general blog setup up, links could be created to the specific major the person is taking or interested in to give them some type of information about it.

This is my first time here so yeh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
